To help me stay motivated, and constantly working on my backlog, I'm trying to do these cliched alliteration things. Here's what I have in mind so far: "WIP of the Week" and "Model of the Month."
WIP of the Week will just be a post/recap of what I've gotten done in the week. This should hopefully keep me accountable for consistent working on a kit. First order of business for me is to get back to the basics. Gotta finish up the Hi-Mock I was working on before life got in the way. Thinking of just a straight build, clean-up, and a custom color paint scheme to get back into using an airbrush. In the meanwhile, I've been doing a lot of research for inspiration on different kits, and I still get that feeling of excitement when I see a well done kit.
Model of the Month, ideally, should go along with WIP of the Week. The idea behind it would be to either pick a kit, or get a suggestion of one from my backlog and work on it with a hard deadline of finishing by the end of the month (and maybe cheat a little and say the first week of the next month). Right now, though, I think the other model I want to focus on finishing is the MG Char's Zaku II 2.0. I've put a lot of time into the inner frame last year, and I loved every minute of it. It's a shame that I started to doubt what my endgoal was for the kit and ended up moving to work on a different project. The plan is to focus on just one kit at a time and not start dozens of projects, but maybe I'll just rotate between two different kits so I don't get burned out on one.
Anyways, that's the new game plan for this year, and I guess this counts as week 1 of the new year. Off to a bad start, because I don't have any of my kits or tools on hand with me! How about we just say I was working on my desk setup and say that was the WIP of the week?
UPDATE: Got more of my desk set up! Just need to get an air compressor and I'm ready to paint again!
